Su-a Lee @IARTPRO

Here's a classic Edinburgh sight: Su-a Lee, blue streak in her hair and cello strapped to her back, sprinting across town from the Queen's Hall to some bar or nightclub for her next gig.
Su-a is a formidable cellist and a fantastically versatile musician. She's been a member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra since 1993 and also plays in any number of other bands, from folk to jazz to gypsy swing to you-name-it. She's an irrepressibly gung-ho personality, buzzing with life, uproariously fun.
We met in the Blue Blazer – long-standing drinking hole of festival musicians, actors and audiences – and she led me happily astray into drinking prosecco all afternoon. She explained how to sneeze discreetly in concerts (time it on the downbeat), how to master the musical saw in two hours flat (sit on a beach in Applecross till you've got it) and how to survive the festival on next to no sleep. If anyone knows that secret, Su-a does.
